The Designer
Cocoa & Whey Cakes is owned and run by Penelope Hurst from her home in Farnham, Dorset near the Hampshire and Wiltshire borders. She is passionate about taste, design and food innovation and creating beautiful things! Originally a lawyer, Penelope changed her career path after having children, when her son was diagnosed with a serious illness. Her love of making beautiful cakes grew during her years at home and eventually developed into the start of Cocoa & Whey Cakes.
Bespoke wedding cakes, and any celebration cakes, should be truly delicious and beautiful but why not imaginative and inventive too? That’s why Cocoa & Whey make savoury wedding cakes as well as sweet ones. In our name the “Cocoa” represents sweet cakes and “Whey” savoury ones. They’re just as fun and delicious and mean that everyone can enjoy some “cake”. Why not celebrate your wedding or event with a tiered savoury cake, a tiered sweet cake or even a combination of the two!
Our Mission
We think that making wedding and event cakes and helping couples and clients with their celebration plans is a joyous activity. At Cocoa & Whey we love the idea and process of food invention as shown by our menus. We also welcome clients joining in with the design process and helping bring their own vision and tastes to their all important celebration.
All our cakes are designed and baked to order using fine ingredients including homemade preserves and fillings, high quality chocolate and unusually delicious fondant. We also use the finest quality ingredients in our savoury cakes and favours too! Wherever possible we use locally sourced ingredients and we always use fresh, free-range eggs. We want to make sure that our ingredients are sourced as far as possible in an ethical way. We are continually trying to find the best quality ingredients for our cakes to raise them to the next level of excellence. It matters to us that we obtain our ingredients from suppliers with ethical standards and who, as far as possible, have animal welfare in mind.

Cocoa & Whey Cakes is registered with Dorset Council and we carry full insurance so you can have peace of mind when booking with us.
